Foreclosure is widespread throughout the United States due to the current economic situation, the growing unemployment and the inability for many people to keep up with their mortgage payments due to the stress of this current financial crisis. However this is not only affecting the United States. The number of foreclosures Vancouver residents are experiencing has been growing as well. This creates a unique opportunity for some in the real estate business or for those who are looking to buy homes and to get them at a fraction of the original cost.

The bank or the lender takes back the property and later resells it in order to recuperate the cost of the original loan. The foreclosure process can go one of four ways. Ideally for the home owner, if they can pay back the amount of the defaulted payments within the period of grace allotted to them, they will remain in possession of their home. This stage is the pre-foreclosure stage. The second option of the process is that during the pre-foreclosure grace period, the home owner will sell their house one their own.

While the end result is that they are not longer in their home, the are able to pay off the default and avoid the negative consequences to their credit score and history. If the borrower does not manage to pay off the default, when the grace period of the pre-foreclosure is over, the home may be purchased at a publicly held auction. The fourth possible outcome for a foreclosure is that the lender or the bank gains ownership and title to the property.

The bank will then have the intention of reselling the house. Sometimes the bank is the third party buyer at the public auctions. In all, banks and lenders to not want to re-possess houses, and many are willing to offer help and guidance, such as that first pre-foreclosure grace period. Home owners do have many opportunities to save their houses, provided that they are able to afford to do so.

How do criminals sometimes get away with what they do? How do they clean their ill-gotten gains? It is a three step process for many drug dealers, or corrupt politicians, or terrorists or those embezzling from their company involving the the placement, the layering and the integration…it is the process of laundering money. Placement involves depositing the money into a legitimate bank, usually in the form of a cash deposit. For many criminals this is the riskiest and most crucial of the steps, as large sums of cash raise a lot of attention and many questions. Large cash deposits are required to be reported by the bank personnel.

Then the criminal may transfer the funds from one account to another or use the funds to purchase high end luxury items such as jewelry or cars. And while this is not as risky as the original deposit, it is complex as they are attempting to make the money as hard to follow as possible. The third stage of integration is the final step and one in which most criminals are scot-free. The money is back in circulation in the main stream and looks legitimate.

However, countries around the world have been enforcing policies and laws which make up the anti-money laundering task force so to speak. These policies state that any financial institute, or any regulated business or organization must report suspicious activity and must take steps within their own institutions to aid in the prevention of the act of laundering money.

The simple truth is that money is acquired honestly there is no need to launder it. Criminals launder money. With the initiation of the Patriot Act of the United States, following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York, anti-money laundering agencies have stepped up their forces, not only to continue to apprehend criminals, but in order to protect the citizens of every country as best as they are able from attacks by terrorists, by cutting off their funds, they may stop attacks and save the lives of many innocent people.

The various neighborhoods of Singapore, are one of the unique aspects of the culture on the island. There is rich heritage and a great diversity in that heritage. While there is this contrast, there is also a blend that is harmonious, be it in the variety of the Singapore restaurants, the architecture, and the arts. This little island offers the of the Eastern cultures and traditions and the best of the Western as well. In one tour, one will go from the future, to the past in a single day, from conservative business centers to exotic market places. One may pass a Hindu or a Chinese Temple, a Muslim Mosque, or a Catholic church all side by side on the same city street. One may start the day with breakfast as the Singapore Zoo with the orangutans, have afternoon tea at one of the traditional tea houses, and then dress up for a night at the Opera or with the Symphony. Every day brings something new and different in the city. In the Little India neighborhood, one will feel as though they are truly walking through a smaller version of Goa or Kerela. The streets are filled with spice shops, palm readers, and the incredible scents flowing out of the kitchens and the restaurants. Many of the Indians that have immigrated throughout the years live in this enchanting sector. Little Arabia, (http://www.the-inncrowd.com/littleindiawalk.htm)is filled with mosques, notable the Sultan Mosque which is an architectural wonder. There are many market places selling everything from vintage Arabic clothing to scarves and jewelry. This, as in all of the neighborhoods of Singapore, is filled with a variety of options for delicious meals. The architecture of the Mosque varies incredibly from the style of the Saint Andrew’s Cathedral. Colonial style is indicative in the spire and the grand white columns. Then, just down the way is the Renaissance building, the Church of the Good Shepherd, with is the oldest Catholic church throughout Singapore. All three of these buildings are among those that are most photographed and most admired.

Recruiting workers for the booming growth of Dubai takes more than just finding bodies. I was fortunate enough to sit next to one of these recruiters while I was eating breakfast at Luxury Hotel Dubai and overheard his conversation with a Dubia Reporter. The recruiter understood that to relocate overseas is about far more than just the job. He continues to say there is what’s called ‘a culture shock cycle’ that all expats have to go through in order to adapt. He said that those who have the right attitude to work through and survive this cycle makes for a happy expat employee and a successful international worker .

The cycle is something I’m familiar with and have talked about it were I currently work in Dubai. We know it affects all those who move abroad, whether they are relocated with work or actively make the choice to move themselves with no professionals backing up their relocation. I continued to listen to the recruiters explanation. He said it starts with the individual person in question loving everything about their exciting and thrilling new life, they embrace change and ignore the challenges seeing only the beauty and the good. This period is quickly followed by a period of negativity which can turn to hostility. They see the differences between their old and new life as being more pronounced, they miss the old and the familiar and homesickness, boredom and resentment can kick in. It is at this stage that one needs to be most adaptable and have the ability to think positively. The recruiter continued, those who cannot, well, the recruiter paused, they either return home or remain living the life of an unhappy isolated expat.

I couldn’t help but intrude into this conversation, and I said there’s a final point worth mentioning, and that the would-be expat who is expecting his or hers spouse to accompany them on a work assignment abroad needs to keep their happiness in mind too. The Recruiter agreed with me, not seeming to mind my interruption, and added to my statement saying the success of an assignment can so often rest largely on the shoulders of the one expected to remain in the home, adapting the family to the new life abroad.

I knew for an employer who has spent far more on recruiting a professional from abroad, such as me, and relocating them to the new nation and not understanding The Cycle will be a costly mistake. this is why an increasing number of firms in countries like Dubai are using the services of professional recruiters who know what to look for in a potential employee.

First check out the following article from NECN:

Companies turn to Twitter for Customer service

Companies are now using Twitter as a means of speeding up their customer service. Also using MySpace and Facebook as well. It remains to be seen if customers will take advantage of the new type of services.

The article notes that Bank of America and Wells Fargo are staffing Twitter accounts to offer help to customers, and others, like Citigroup and American Express have Facebook or MySpace presences. It’s not perfection – Bank of America and Wells Fargo have only one person monitoring their account.

Twitter as a customer service tool could be helpful, but it will not replace individuals who have customer service training and business training. Customers still enjoy meeting with people face to face it allows for questions to be answered that come up after initial information is given. Twitter is an interesting animal, who knows if it will just become another internet wasteland full of so many people the information is useless. Also, Twitter could use a better search function, because as of yet, it is very difficult to find an individual on Twitter.

How this could help the customer service industry is that it could get simple questions answered quickly. It would be interesting for these companies to add how long it takes these reps to answer a question. If every company did this there would be a need to train employees under a new type of customer service training model, or it could have the potential for job creation. All the good it would do only helps if people actually seek it out. So would you use Twitter for customer service? It could be used as a vaild way to multi-task perhaps while at work. But other than that there is nothing better than a little human contact. Leadership skills cannot be relayed via a computer screen.

There are many options for night-time fun in Majorca. There are many options for family fun, as well some fun to be had that is, well, not so family oriented. Majorca has increasingly become a favorite destination spot in the Mediterranean. Through the increasingly growing industry of tourism, vacation packages have become available and affordable to those who before, may not have been able to afford to spend time on an island long known for its attraction to wealthy, the famous, and the jet-setting crowds. Aside from the various options for night time partying alone, one may find oneself dancing in one of hip nightclubs next to or eating beside in one of the many restaurants, some superstars from around the world. It has jokingly been said, though not without some truth, that when getting ready for a night on the town, it is best to dress ‘to the nines’, as you just may be dancing along side Russell Crowe or sharing a counter at a local tapas restaurant with Salma Hayek or sharing a poolside cocktail at one of the many 5 star hotel Majorca has to offer with Clint Eastwood or Hillary Swank.

The top clubs in town offer a variety options from all night discos, with 5000 people dancing to tunes spun by the hottest DJs in town, attended to by superstar athletes, pop idols and world famous fashion models. These are local spots that attract the trendy and the young with rave parties, fanciful go-go dancers in thigh high boots dancing on the bars and yes, karaoke. The parties in these establishments tend to be high energy and last all night, so if you are young at heart, be sure that you are young in physical make-up as well, for no one and I mean no one stops dancing until the sun comes up, shines for a bit to allow a little relaxation on the white sand beaches, and then sets back down. And then, it’s just time to do it all again.

If someone prefers live entertainment to mixing boards and video screens, any number of bars and clubs offer it up. From live bands to cabaret shows to the soulful tunes of American Mo-town, to gambling casinos with poker and blackjack tables, to live audience interactive adventures that prove fun for the entire family, to live erotica to foam parties, the streets of this island have it all to offer and offer it up they do. After decades and decades of war and occupation and conquests, this new found atmosphere is something everyone is ecstatic about. The tourism industry has grown 10 fold in the last 50 years. This small island off the coast of Spain will continue to attract the party animals and the families for years to come, there is so much it has to offer and such a lovely climate to offer it in.

Almost all businesses that have customers at some point receive complaints from these customers. Often these complaints are perceived as an inconvenience. To some they can even be a major concern. You should note that complaints are not necessarily a bad thing. They are an opportunity to improve. Many quality systems such as ISO identify complaint handling as necessary.

Collection and processing can be one of the biggest challenges associated with customer complaint handling. This is because complaints often arrive into the business in many different ways – letters, emails, sales reps, phone calls etc. This results in the fact that often complaints get ignored, mishandled or lost. The ultimate solution is to have procedures developed so that all complaints can be processed and recorded.

Central customer complaint handling systems such as complaint handling software is often used. This type of system means that staff throughout the organization, and out in the field, a way to record and store each complaint they receive in real time. The software can include methods to attach documentation and also to assign tasks to others for investigation and resolution. It can also be used to record corrective actions, root causes and outcomes. The result of using specialized complaint handling software is that the history of each individual complaint is recorded from the initial contact through to final resolution. Production or service improvements can be determined from this type of information.

With the credit market still frozen in our ailing economy, businesses of all sizes are nervous about the potential of losing loans. Not only do new businesses worry about producing innovative and interesting products and services that will maintain their competitiveness, but fledgling companies now carry the burden of simply staying afloat while banks continue to die off. So if established businesses are failing, how can up-and-coming ideas gain capital, build business and move to the forefront in a wrecked economy?

Although times are tough, there are many venture capitalist companies that continue to thrive. Arthur Trueger is an example of a keen and devoted businessman who can see opportunities within the ruin. He is the chairman of Berkley Technology Limited, located in San Francisco, California. The company primarily serves the telecommunications and medical industry.

Arthur Trueger works in the epicenter of new technology, providing support to many leading businesses in Silicon Valley. He has helped fund approximately $2 billion in private equity investments for many of the most successful US technology companies.

In order for the U.S. to be a dominating force in the world’s economy, we must continue to push out new ideas and seek our fullest potential. Arthur Trueger is an example of a venture capatalist whose work ethic drives the development of the business sector.

There has been a real need of developing leadership skills within my department. I mean everything from sales training to effective communication needs improvement. I told my employees to do some research and come back with suggestions. Only one of them did as I asked. In fact, he did more than I asked and actually changed his leadership style based on what he read.

I gave him a promotion but did not give anyone else. Now, he’s their boss and they are having a hard time understanding why he got a promotion and they didn’t. I explained to them what I had asked and told them how only this one guy brought back what I asked for and then he tried it out in his department. He found it to be successful, so he dually deserved a promotion.

Now, they are all reading and studying what it takes to be an effective boss and trying to get me to give them promotions. I told them that next time I ask for something I want it then, not months later because they were looked over for a promotion.
