The Goethe University of Frankfurt , commonly known as Frankfurt University, was originally established in 1914 and at the time was a Citizens’ University. This was a much different time period, and the university was established prior to the first World War and Prussia was still in official existence. The status as a Citizens’ University indicates that it was founded by a rich individual of Frankfurt though it was a state university. The school has a large international student population and touring the campus is a favorite aspect of many parent’s visitation. The hotels located in Frankfurt are excellent resources for school information and points of interest for visitors.

The University exits in four campuses across the city and includes a number of impressive features and cultural elements. Some of the famous and also respected and attractive facilities associated with the school include the Botanic Garden, which is housed at the Bio Campus and the sports complex at the Ginnheimer. The University has experienced a great deal of change and transitions, as has Germany during the near century of existence. It has at times experienced a liberal left wing reputation steeped in Marxist and Jewish philosophy. During the Nazi occupation of Germany, this school saw more of its students dismissed for political or racial reasons than any other school in the country.

The school was named after one of the greatest poets of all time and probably the most famous and respected of all German poets. Johann Woflgang von Goethe was born in August of 1749 and is remembered for his works in various writing genres. His most famous and enduring work is the epic poem Faust, which endures in mythological archetypal importance today. The two part drama, which actually has been staged though works much better as a poetic reading and is generally classified as a closet drama. These works were never intended to be produced on the stage but read and discussed in small groups.

Facebook is by far the largest social networking site with millions of people connecting each day. However there have been some concerns recently that Facebook has been lax on their privacy controls and that they are allowing information to be shared without the users consent. In Monday’s edition of the Washington Post, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, published a letter outlining their plans to simple yet increase the privacy settings and denied that any information is being shared or sold without consent. It may to be too little too late for some users who no longer trust Facebook; however, as immensely popular as Facebook is I’m sure they will be fine. You can read the letter yourself by visiting WashingtonPost.com.

As the largest and also the capital city of Denmark, Copenhagen is a beautiful representation of the country and this is evident immediately upon arrival. The buildings in the capital city represent some of the most beautiful and frequently historic architecture of Europe. Even many of the hotels in Copenhagen are in some incredible buildings are part of the guests’ great experience and visual fascination. In fact the architecture is so incredible throughout the city that Copenhagen itself is almost a museum and the buildings are its main exhibit. It’s interesting to note that even given all of the incredible beauty and historic relevance of the architecture Copenhagen is also considered to be one of the most environmentally friendly cities in the world. This is one of its aspects that is not lost in appreciation with most of the people who visit it.

And while the city itself is green, the buildings are sometimes diverse in color. When taking an architectural tour of the city, the inner city or its oldest section, is also one of the most interesting. This part of Copenhagen is frequently referred to as the Medieval City because much of the architecture found there dates back to that period of time. Another incredible section of the city to visit is the district known as Frederiksstaden, which is also the city’s most distinctive region. This part of Copenhagen was established during the reign of Frederick V and it is also where the famous Marble Church is located. Also known as Frederick’s Church, this incredible building was designed by Nicolai Eigtved in 1740. Part of the reason this area of the city is so beautifully designed is due to the fact most of the buildings were designed and built to commemorate three hundred years of jubilee. That refers to the original coronation of the House of Oldenburg.

It’s over a month and still there is oil flowing freely from the damaged well.  Although they have tried many different methods to stop the leakage, nothing has worked so far.  The newest method that they are trying is a siphon to hopefully remove a large portion of the oil from the water, drilling a second well to relieve pressure and then filling them in permanently with mud and concrete.  Many researchers are worried that more oil has spilled than even recent estimates determined.  If it spreads far enough it could get caught in a current and taken up the east coast.  We can only hope that this plan works.  Yahoo!News has the whole story at news.yahoo.com

The island of Corsica is located in the Mediterranean and much like the sea in which it exits, the island is beautiful and captures imaginations and passions for people across the world. And while it might seem like the entire island is something of a paradise natural park, there is actually a designated park on it that is amazing in its own right. The Parc Naturei Regional de Corse is relatively new and was established in 1972. It includes some of the highest mountain ranges on the island in its borders as well as the Golfe de Porto and the Scandola Nature Reserve.
It is one of the top attractions for tourists who visit the island and information on it as well as directions to it can be found at some of the top resorts and hotels in Corsica . And while many people assume the great beaches to be the top geographic attractions on the island, they are surprised to find the extend of the offerings and importance of this great park.

Although the park is protected and cannot be accessed by foot, it is possible to visit the park and arrive there by a boat that originates in the village of Galeria. Thousands of rare animal and plant species thrive in and are protected by this park and part of its function is to serve as a major conservation effort. As is true for most of the world, Corsica has seen its share of indigenous species become extinct through the centuries and it recognizes the environmental importance of preservation. In addition to some of the rare species that are found there the park also features endangered species. Two sub species of hoofed animals the mouflon and Corsican red deer are found here. In addition to the amazing beauty of the park it is also a great place to visit and see rare and endangered animals and plants.
