Currently teaching in Alberta, Canada, she has taught in Berkeley, California, in the U.S., in Heidelberg, Germany, and held positions for many years at India’s University of Hyderabad.
Her work in New Delhi has been substantial, and she has an ongoing relationship with the city. Dr. Parasher Sen earned her bachelor’s from Lady Shri Ram College at University of Delhi in 1973, the Career Award in Social Sciences and Humanities for Young Scientists by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, 1989-1991, and member of the Indian Council for Historical Research, New Delhi by the Government of India, 1994-97, and is a member of the National Commission/Research Council for History of Science, by the Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi, 2007-2009. She has published extensively on India’s vision of the Other, and on images of female identity in Hindu myth. Her work, then, is a deep look at country and identity, and is a fascinating look into history and culture here.
