Kitchens are just not good enough in the house anymore. Some people have entire kitchens out side, fully equipped with outdoor sinks and outdoor kitchen cabinets. These kitchens however are no small feat. They take a lot of engineering and it’s best to leave it to the professionals to make the most of your space. It’s more now than just giant grills; people want to basically live outside right now.

What you should do is make sure you design the kitchen yourself. There are bevies of outdoor kitchen accessories that you can choose to make to most of your outdoor living space. The first thing you need to decide when thinking about buying a full-on outdoor kitchen is what kind of amenities you want it to have. If you think you will probably not go beyond basic grilling, you probably don’t need to waste your money on extras that will not add to your outdoor lifestyle.

Another thing you should take into consideration before you purchase yourself and your family a brand spanking new outdoor kitchen is how much time you and your family really spend outside. If you consider yourselves a family that basically lives outside, an outdoor kitchen could be the perfect fit into making the most out of your outdoor lifestyle.

If you live in a climate that lends itself to a lot of sunshine and outdoor activity, an outdoor kitchen will definitely add to your lifestyle. The best place for an outdoor kitchen is if you already have a pool in your backyard. Places like Arizona, California, Florida and other resort towns are great for outdoor living space. This is because you can get a lot of use out of it, which will totally justify its price tag. So get outside and start cooking once you get your new outdoor kitchen. It will turn your yard into an absolute oasis.

The people of South Africa are known for their production of a wide variety of artistic objects and their craft-work.  They work on the the city streets, on the corners and sidewalks as well as in the market places creating items from just about every possible medium, and more.  The repertoire is constantly growing and ranges from delicate plates and bowls, to Christmas ornaments, key chains, candles, and extremely intricate embroidery.  These works are purchased by the locals, as well as the many tourists staying in the luxury hotels.  South Africa and her artists are innovative and inventive working in traditional arts and crafts as well as modern modern and contemporary pieces.  The artists create pieces using leather, clay, grass and beads, as well as tin food cans, empty gas containers, wires from telephones, and plastic bags.

In this time of financial stress and the poor economic situation in most countries, the markets, shops and collectives in South Africa are doing incredibly well.  One market place that specializes in baskets is called Fugitive’s Drift.  Another site that is a community of the San peoples who have been displaced, create amazing works of art on rocks.  Delicate paintings full of color.  And on just about every corner there are the wire sculptors, selling their tiny pieces of intertwined wire and beaded statuettes.  Some South African artists have become quite famous.  Bonnie Ntshalintshali was a potter, whose detailed work goes beyond the limits of traditional pottery styles.  Her works are sought after by tourists and locals alike.  One artist, Chickenman Mkhize made a living on his eccentric road signs.  Mkhize passed away, and his works are now valued very highly on the Western art markets as well as his home country.  And the art is not just located on the streets but is made up of the buildings on the streets as well.  Many throughout the cities in the country, paint colorful murals on the walls of their houses, which creates and outdoor gallery and a visual experience just by merely taking a walk through the streets.

Anytime you want to buy something that costs at least a month’s worth of your hard earned cash, you need to make sure you know what you want. You need to do a lot of research and become an expert in the product you want to buy. If you are looking to buy a big ticket item, you need to make sure you know what you want, and when you finally put the dough down, know what you are getting.

If you are in the market for a hot tub, there are a lot of things that you need to consider before you actually buy one. First off you need to determine how much room you have before you decide which make or model you will purchase. Space issues are one of the things that can sometimes get overlooked then you have a hot tub and no real room to put it. Then you have to worry if you will actually be able to return the giant monstrosity.

After you determine the space that you have allocated for the hot tub, you then need to decide how much you are willing to spend on a tub. There are so many types of hot tubs available these days. There are varieties that you can blow up with air, just like a play pool. There are others that are the traditional sixties style soaking wooden tubs. Then there are the huge, seats 14 with power jets and a television with satellite built in hot tub. So determining your budget is rather important.

A good starting place to do some comparison shopping when it comes to any item, but especially big ticket items like hot tubs is the internet. The internet is a great place to get an idea of price and helps you discover what you really want. A great starting point is choosehottubsdirect.com.  They have tons of choices and great prices. You may even end up being unable to find a better deal and going back to the site to make your purchase.

I really wanted to get the feel of Harlem, so I investigated if there was maybe a walking tour and there is! I had one day free to do what I wanted during my business meetings, so I thought, what a great opportunity to get to know and understand the history of a historical place. I contacted the concierge at one of the Top New York Hotels and ask if they could steer me to the right place. They could, and they not only arranged the reservations for me, they requested a private tour.

It was nice to be able to leave the buses and subways behind and walk the streets of Harlem to feel the sights and sounds that are the epitome of the Black Capital of America. I met up with my personal tour guide who actually works and lives in Harlem. This insiders view managed to transport me back to the days of the Harlem Renaissance. A period when Harlem was filled to the brim with talented artists, musicians, civil rights leaders and writers. I got to see speakeasies, churches (where I got to listen to the uplifting sounds of a gospel choir in practice), pristine neighborhoods, jazz clubs from the 1920’s. My favorite sight is the original Cotton Club. But, it was hard to choose which was my second most favorite sight. I liked the Langston Hughes Home, The Center for Research in Black Culture, the place where Madame Walker and daughter A’lelia Walker lived and the home of Wallace Thurman was especially nice.

My personal tour guide gave my photographs and made sure that I would hear Harlem Renaissance music. But what was most astounding for me was that here in Harlem is some of the most spectacular architecture in all of Manhattan; Harlem is soaked it amazing architecture. We were running out of time, but my wonderfully amazing guide managed to talk me to Sugar Hill. This is where some of the most famous heroes and heroines lived, like Paul Robeson, Malcolm X, Count Basie and WEB DuBois. I was stunned with how different the atmosphere was here compared to the Southern part of Harlem. The day ending with a dinner at one of the eateries in Harlem. A nice touch. I said goodbye to my guide and headed back to my hotel room feeling like I lived during the Renaissance of Harlem.

If you have made it to the interview stage for a job then you have already put some major work in. You have written the right kind of resume that makes people want to call you. You have had the leadership skills development in your career or schooling so far that help employers think you are the one to get the job done.

But, there are things you should avoid during the process that may help you land the job and the paycheck that comes along with it.

The first thing you should never do when you get to the face to face interview stage is never arrive late. Arriving late to a job interview is really never acceptable. Make sure you leave the house with the phone number of the person you are interviewing with, that way if the worse happens, say you get a flat tire, or there is a family emergency, you can contact the interviewer and reschedule.

Do your best to dress right for the interview. Consider what type of industry your interview is in. No management seminar training will replace that you have not dressed right for the big first meet and greet.

Make sure you know how to tell the interviewer your strengths and weaknesses. If you can’t do it, it may lead to a poor interview. A sales training program on your resume won’t make up for the fact that you think you are perfect.

Also, when you go on an interview you should always have questions prepared. There will be that inevitable part of the interview, at the end when the interviewer is done interviewing you and will ask if you have any questions. You better have questions!

Nailing the interview is all about not being so nervous and being confident about your abilities!

Becoming an inventor does not really seem like a viable career path. However, with the way that the economy is, it is definitely a career path to think about. If you have always had a great idea or thought that you could make a classic product better. And really all it takes is a good idea and a little bit of passion to promote it.

Think of picking up the book by Steve Barbarich called The Complete Manual on How to Make Money from Your Inventions and Patents. It is a step by step guide on how to make your idea into something that makes you money. Most info-mercials that you see on late night television were at one time just an idea in someone’s brain. The book also will help you with personal development and negotiations involved that comes with trying to market an invention.

The most important thing you need to do if you are thinking how you can market your idea is to get yourself a patent. The patent will protect your idea so that nobody else can reap monetary gains from your idea. Applying for a patent and receiving one will also make sure that your idea is completely original and allow you to better market it.

When you decide it’s time to market your product or new invention you should think about how to go about it. You can see if you find yourself an investor. This is when you pitch your product to someone who would be willing to give you financial backing.

Another thing you can do is try to market the product yourself. The only problem is that if your product becomes too popular, and isn’t that the whole point of your amazing idea, you may not have the ability to manufacture it on your own.

How do criminals sometimes get away with what they do?  How do they clean their ill-gotten gains?  It is a three step process for many drug dealers, or corrupt politicians, or terrorists or those embezzling from their company involving the the placement, the layering and the integration…it is the process of laundering money.  Placement involves depositing the money into a legitimate bank, usually in the form of a cash deposit.  For many criminals this is the riskiest and most crucial of the steps, as large sums of cash raise a lot of attention and many questions.  Large cash deposits are required to be reported by the bank personnel.

Then the criminal may transfer the funds from one account to another or use the funds to purchase high end luxury items such as jewelry or cars.  And while this is not as risky as the original deposit, it is complex as they are attempting to make the money as hard to follow as possible.  The third stage of integration is the final step and one in which most criminals are scot-free.  The money is back in circulation in the main stream and looks legitimate.

However, countries around the world have been enforcing policies and laws which make up the anti-money laundering task force so to speak.  These policies state that any financial institute, or any regulated business or organization must report suspicious activity and must take steps within their own institutions to aid in the prevention of the act of laundering money.

The simple truth is that money is acquired honestly there is no need to launder it.  Criminals launder money.  With the initiation of the Patriot Act of the United States, following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York, anti-money laundering agencies have stepped up their forces, not only to continue to apprehend criminals, but in order to protect the citizens of every country as best as they are able from attacks by terrorists, by cutting off their funds, they may stop attacks and save the lives of many innocent people.

I found it fascinating when I was living in Mumbai for a few month about how the Jainas believe in the transmigration of souls. They believe that if they kill an animal or insect is killing a life of an ancestor. Not only to they have hospitals for old and maimed animals in every town I visited, but there are priests that go around with a mask covering their noses and mouths so they don’t breath in and kill even the smallest of living creatures.

There was a Panjrapol, not too far from the Five Star Hotel India where I was staying, so I got do delve into this Jainas society a little bit more. The Panjrapol takes up a quarter of a reserve and is separated into yards, meadows, groves with ponds, cages for beasts of prey and enclosures for the tame animals. The institution almost appeared to be a Noah’s Ark. I got to watch while veterinarians were constantly in attendance and were busily bandaging a broken paw or pouring ointment on a mangy dog, fitting wooden crutches to a lame stork. In contrast, just outside of the Panjrapol there are starving old men, women and children. I will never understand India, but then I believe I’m not supposed to.

It was interesting to note that all the carnivorous animals, like the jackals, wolves, tigers and hyenas are forced to only eat a vegetarian diet. The herbivores surely don’t mind, but the carnivores are obliged to fast along with the Janis. I watched a bullet wounded tiger sniff at a rice soup offered to him and he lashed his tail, snarling and showing his teeth and with a dull roar turned away from the unusual food. He looked at his keepers, I’m sure wishing he could eat them.

What was most unusual, and a great example of just how far the Janis belief goes, I watched a holy man who was sitting in a corner and allowed what ever insect to feed upon his body. He was entirely naked and lay motionless with his eyes shut. He was literally covered with mosquitoes, ants, flies and other sorted bugs. Again, I will never understand India. But, I will never forget her.

There are hundreds of families of birds in Thailand. Like the rare Gurney’s Pitta which are fairly easy to see if one knows where to look for them. Unlike her neighbors, Thailand is a very prosperous country, so the locals need not to eat the wild birds in order to survive. I was happy to hear this, because I love birds. Some of my favorite birds are in Thailand and are easy to see the various bird families.

For instance, just outside the window of one of the Thailand Luxury Hotels where I was staying, I saw a kingfisher. There are 86 species of kingfishers worldwide and Thailand has 15 of those species. What really great about it is most of the kingfishers have bright plumage and typically perch in trees in an upright exposed posture. The one outside my window plunge-dived in the water pond on the hotel grounds in search of food. A very resourceful bird. There must have been some small aquatic animal or insect or even a lizard for the kingfishers fancy. This particular species outside my window is a White-throated kingfisher which are known to inhabit inland areas. It was very exciting to watch this bird, absolutely stunning when the sunlight hit his beautiful shiny blue feathers.

Later, I got to spot a chocolate brown wing kingfisher with an orange body at Phang Nga Bay. I even got to see his bright blue rectangle on his back. His voice is quite distinct. A loud piercing and descending whistle. I will never forget it, very impressive.

Also, in Thailand, there are 13 species of the Hornbill. I spotted the Wreathed Hornbill, the Oriental-pied Hornbill, the Great Hornbill and the very bizarre Helmeted Hornbill all at Khao Sok . Hornbills generally are fruit eaters, though they have been known to eat small reptiles, some insects and even other small birds. They mate for life and return each year to the same tree to raise their young. Such an amazing bird.  Thailand is very fortunate to have these 2 birds in her country.

It used to be that parents only had to worry about their kids experimenting with cigarettes or alcohol. The worst thing to think about was if your children were using marijuana. These days, you have to worry about things that children can easily buy and get a hold of.  Street drugs, the hallucination drugs that came out of the 1960s, such as LSD or cocaine are expensive and a little more difficult for adolescents can get their hands on.  Why would they, when they can easily get a high of things they can buy at their local Walgreens?

Adolescents are now experimenting with over the counter cough medicine and taking it when they are not sick to get a high off of it. This is becoming an increasingly more popular way for adolescents to get high. And the addictions can get bad enough to land them in an addiction treatment center.

Young adults are using things like NyQuil, Robitussin and Coricidin, which they can easily pick up at the supermarket because they contain DXM. DXM, also called dextrometorphan is a key ingredient in about 140 cold medicines that can be purchased over the counter.  The effects of DXM can be similar to the effect of taking the drug PCP or Ketamin.  And DXM can be overdosed on as well. It can cause muscle spasms and increased heart rate and even death.

Dual diagnosis can help alleviate the need for DXM and over the counter cold medicine addiction.

It’s just one more thing that parents have to watch out for when it comes to taking care of their children. Since getting high this way is so accessible, it is even more dangerous. Keep a tab on what is in your medicine cabinet and what your kids take from it. That little supervision could go a long way in preventing over the counter drug abuse.

Barcelona is certainly one of Spain’s most beautiful and internationally recognized cities. It has also been the birthplace, early origin or primary residence of many renown artists, writers and performers. Pablo Picasso is one of the most famous world figures with a strong association to Barcelona, though the list is long and extensive. Albert Boadella Oncins is another significant personality who stems from this great city. He is an actor, a playwright and a director and is well known for being fundamental to the development of the theatre company Els Joglars. He was born in Barcelona in 1943 and has had an extremely productive and much honored career. He has also directed many television programs and series episodes. He has also written for the television and has acted in the genre as well. And while his work in the theatre is likely the most important, he is greater known for his television work and appearances.

Some of the series Boadella has appeared in are Ya Semos Europeos, a 30 minute comedy series, Medico de Familia and Buenaventura Durruti, anarquista. Medico de Familia is comedy drama that focuses on various social and family issues. The plot lines revolve around the character Nacho Martin who is a family doctor who has been recently widowed. He is left to single parent his three children and has to learn how to deal with various extended family aspects. Also featured are his long time friend and deceased wife’s sister, who has been secretly in love with Martin for years. This of course contributes to both comedic and dramatic elements in the story line and interpersonal relationships. Boadella appeared in season four of this entertaining, yet also socially relevant series. He is a popular city personality and tourists who are staying in one of the luxury Barcelona hotels may have the opportunity to spot him in a local café.

Various parts of the eastern hemisphere are experiencing a rare occurrence of an extremely long solar eclipse. Some cities in northern India and China can expect a complete blackout on the morning of Wednesday, July 22, 2009. This is a fascinating event, and many people will visit the cities that will be strongly affected, just to experience it. There are also cruise tours that will pass through the strong eclipse areas and are booked to capacity with passengers that wish to experience the eclipse from the open water. This could add a romantic element, and what a perfect time for a marriage proposal. Hotels are booked to capacity in the major cities that will be affected, and though Goa will not experience the full eclipse that is will occur on Wednesday, the Goa hotels are almost always full. And this is a major tourist time of year.

In Goa, there was a partial eclipse in the early morning of Monday, March 19, 2007. This was a beautiful event, and many photographers were able to capture the silhouetted image against the moon. The eclipse occurred close to the horizon, which may have made it less visible from specific locations, though it also created a beautiful linear view. There is actually an eclipse season, and it will begin in late August of this year. On August 28 there will be total lunar eclipse followed by a partial solar eclipse in October. With any eclipse, it is important to take precautions when looking at them, as even partial sun directed into ones eyes can cause extreme damage. Many schools have special viewing projects for students and make it a class event to view them through the crudely constructed instruments. This is also a great opportunity for astronomy classes to create an interactive lesson.

A decision went down a couple of weeks ago regarding the United States International Trade Commission voted to impose duties on as much as 55 percent of Chinese tire imports. These are car tires that are offered at very low costs.

The United States International Trade Commission voted on this because they felt these Chinese tires are affecting the United States tire market. The United States market has been affected by the economic downturn, and there is worry that not imposing duties on the cheap Chinese tires will hurt the United States market even more.

President Barack Obama has to approve the vote if the tariffs are beneficial or not to the market.  Opponents of the duties say that by imposing them the market will continue to suffer. China is the largest provider of tire imports to the United States and they sell for about half of what American made tires sell for. Therefore, they are very attractive to consumers, especially those needing large truck wheels.

The United Steelworkers Union filed the case, citing that the cheap Chinese tires are taking a real bite out of the United States market.  Opponents say that the duties will just be passed onto the consumers who are purchasing the tires, and they will not have as many options as they once had in the past, before the duties.

Will doing this really save domestic jobs? Or is this just an industry that is not able to keep up with the times and the current economy? It’s difficult to take sides on this one, consumers need cheap tires, especially now, but families need those jobs. It’s a tough call.

In a country where our truck rims are more expensive than the tires around them, what is more important? American jobs or cheap tires for consumers, it’s an interesting debate.

Mauritius is a beautiful island and considered to be a paradise on earth by many of the people who have visited it. There are a great many things to do and see on this island, though many people are greatly attracted to its beaches and opportunities for sunbathing and water sports. Some of the five star hotels Mauritius are located on or near a popular beach, which provides visors with great views and convenient access to their favorite activity.

Deep sea fishing is one of the more popular activities available on, well actually just slightly off, of this island. There are many marine species in the area, and seeing them is often as or even more exciting to the fishers as is catching some of them. The blue and black marlin are popular and widely seen as well as are all types of sharks. The yellow tuna, known as the Bonitos frequent the seas, and as well as the infamous barracuda. Most of the main hotels and resorts offer fishing tour packages and services to the guests. Deap sea fishing is so poplar on the island that Marlin World Cup is found there, and is hosted by the La Pirogue Hotel. This prestigious event takes place in December of every year.

Of course fishing and other water sports are not the only activities to be experienced on the island. There are many landmarks and monuments that attract visitors, as well as a popular entertainment scene. One of the primary tourist locations on the island is the Triolet Shivala, which is also the longest village on the island. It is the home of the Maheswarnath, which is its largest Hindu temple. The temple was created in 1819 in honor of the gods Shiva, Vishnu and Krishna. It’s beautiful design inspires the awe afforded to these great Hindu gods and their worship.

Mumbai India is an historic metropolitan center that had humble beginnings. And while it has grown into one of India’s most financially progressive and also largest metropolitan areas, it remains much of its heritage, which is incorporated into the current society and various arts genres. A Mumbai Bombay hotel provides excellent accommodations, and many are located near some of the most prominent cultural landmarks and major tourist attractions.

Elephanta Island is one of the more popular locations for tourists to visit while enjoying the many diverse aspects of Mumbai. It is located in the middle of Mumbai Harbour and the rock cut temples are almost legendary. These temples are generally cut into the basalt rock of the island, creating an almost labyrinth of caves. They are full of carved artwork, which represents some of the most elaborate sacred art in India. The central temple is that devoted to Shiva, and it is well known for its grandeur. There are courtyards, pillars, halls and shrines filled with ornate art and sculptures. One of the most impressive is the 6 meter tall statue of Sadhashiva. Though the three faced destroyer god is known as the protector and of the universe, the view of him with his eyes closed provides a serene and peaceful observational experience.

The temples are believed to have been created between the years of 450 and 750 AD. At this time the island was known as Gharapuri, which means the place of caves. Later, when the Portuguese arrived on the island, they renamed it after seeing the large stone elephant that stood on its shores. This sculpture collapsed in the early 1880s and was moved to Victoria Gardens. There are many guided tours available to tour this island, though private individuals are welcome to explore the caves on there own, and there is plenty of information available on them to make this possible. One thing that should not be missed is the museum on Elephanta Island, which is dedicated to its preservation and education on its history.

The Jenolan Caves are located within the Blue Mountains of Australia.  Any vacation to the city of Sydney should include not only nights at the best Sydney hotel,  visits to the Sydney Opera House, a cruise around the Harbor, and a trip to the Blue Mountains.  Located just a short drive from Sydney, approximately two and a half hours, the Mountains offer some of the most scenic views in the world, wine, food and music festivals, including regular symphony performances in the caves.  This system of caves is one of the oldest and finest in the entire world.  And they are the oldest caves that are open to public.

There are over four hundred caves in all, guided tours through nine of the caves, the formations and the rivers that run underground, as well a self tours and opportunities for caving adventures.  There is live music during the afternoon and evenings on a regular basis, as well as restaurants and bistros, with accommodations available should one desire a couple of days on the reserve and in the park.  Lucas cave is one of the caves in which music is held, which one of the highest chambers of all the caves, and incredible acoustics.  Another cave that should not be missed is the Temple of Baal, known as one of the most beautiful under grounds caves in the world.

The view and the formations above ground in the reserve are spectacular as well.  Tours are available here as well, through Blue Lake and Carlotta’s Arch.  The Blue Mountains are all about the Scenic views, and there are a few options as to how one experiences that.  The Scenic ride on the train takes one down into the valley, through cliffs and rain forests.  Then once in the valley there is a Scenic walk leading to the suspended cable car, which will then bring one back to the top via the air, through waterfalls and spectacular ravines.  This is a must see day trip for anyone visiting Sydney, or anyone living in the city wanting a bit of the outdoors.

I booked a room at one of the Rajasthan Luxury Hotels so I could take a tour of the internationally known ‘Ranthambore National Park’ and the ‘Ranthambore Tiger Reserve’. They both are rated among the finest wildlife Sanctuaries and Tiger reserves in all of India.

The park is located among the most amazing surroundings which constitutes the Aravalis and the Vindhya ranges in eastern Rajasthan. It’s known for the rich and varied fauna and flora. Over 400 square kilometers, the park spreads out long rocky ridges and undulating and rugged terrain. The hills open to valleys with lakes and pools. There are two rivers, the Banas and the Chambal flow in the North and the South part of the park respectively. Six of the lakes are artificial, the Mansarovar, the Gilai Sagar, The Raj Bagh, The Malik and the Padam Talao. There beauty only adds to the Ranthambore National Park. Green lush vegetation alongside plenty of water aids in making this an ideal place for survival and growth of all the varied wildlife. Perfect conditions for the tigers and their prey. I found the greatest attraction to be the world-famous Royal Bengal Tigers. Once endangered due to this being the hunting ground of the Maharaja of Jaipur, it’s now a sanctuary for the very same tigers.

The Park supports a wide variety of wildlife besides the Bengals. Like birds, mammals and reptiles. But, what’s most important is the Tiger. The park promises to offer the best opportunities for tourists to track a tiger in its own natural habitat. So this park is naturally the favorite for wildlife photographers. Even though the park is relatively small, it has a rich diversity of fauna and flora which include over some 30 mammal species, some 270 bird species, some dozen reptile species and about 350 species of plants including 50 aquatic plants. I will most definitely not be bored exploring this wonderful park.

We reached Phuket safely at 7:50 Thailand time. We took this van that charged us 1500 Baht for one to our one of the Luxury Phuket Hotels. The journey took approximately 40 minutes. Here’s one tip for you guys, do some research on your trip as there will be lots of con men hanging around, just waiting to take all of your money.

Phuket is quite similar to Muar: a small town with lots of old buildings and small roads. One thing I realized is that the drivers of Thailand are so furious, like in the movie Fast and Furious. They step on the gas like no body’s business, and yet, they manage to stop in time. But, one difference between Phuket and Muar is Phuket has really clean toilets.

We has lunch at a nearby restaurant before checking in, and wow, this place was the most expensive meal we had in Phuket. Then we went to our Hotel and we were all very satisfied with the rooms. It’s really spacious and clean. For any of you who wish to enjoy a good stay in Phuket, I truly recommend the link up above for your best choice in hotels. It’s amazingly inexpensive when we shared a room with 2 other friends. We stayed 3 days and 2 nights.

After about 45 minutes of settling down, we headed to Patong Beach. It took us only 15 minutes walk and there were vendor stalls along the way. Beach wear was quite cheap if you are good in negotiating the price. Teh Patong Beach is quite clean, but not the water. It’s something like Redang the island itself. The tsunami evacuation signs cam be seen all along the seaside and there’s even some stalls selling DVD’s of the stories about the tsunami that hit Phuket in December of 2004.

All in All we had a blast for those 3 days and 2 nights. Phuket is definitely a tourist trap, but we didn’t care, it’s a wonderful tourist trap and we didn’t mind being caught.

Hong Kong itself is a magnificent place.  There is a feeling of being simultaneously in-between worlds, but firmly grounded at the same time.  It is one of the true international cities in the world, and the constant motion of cultures here influences the language, the art, and style.  It is traditional, cutting edge, and post-modern, all at once.  Hong Kong has also had a spectacular cinematic history, where, for more than a century, the world has seen new work from Hong Kong that is as entertaining as it is challenging.  One of their most acclaimed filmmakers hails from the Hong Kong New Wave, Ann Hui.

With over two dozen directing credits to her name, this director has worked on film in Hong Kong since the 1970s.  Born in 1947 to a Chinese father and a Japanese mother, she worked in television before going to film school in London.  She gradually moved from television to film, and by the 80s she had established herself as a director.  She lived in Hong Kong since she was five years old, and her documentary style is often very autobiographical, and speaks to some of her major themes, cultural identity and nationhood.  Her films are also very focused on exploring the notions of race, class, and gender, and often deal with mother-daughter relationships which reflect her own experiences with her mother.  Ann Hui is an artist who has won multiple awards, and has come to represent a standard in filmmaking.  Her cinematic voice is unmistakably Hong Kong, and her films, which have an uncharacteristic lack of action and fast pacing, illustrate that this is a voice that is forged through effort and compassion.

This morning, the weather in Dubai has become quite pleasant, the temperature was around 28C, so I took my camera out and left my room at one of the Four Star Hotels Dubai has and walked the route I have taken every morning since I arrived here. It’s only about a half hour walk, and this being my third day, I have only seen a dozen people on my way to the business where I have been doing seminars.

I usually head out around 7:30am, so that’s probably why I don’t bump into or get jostled around by all the busy people in Dubai. This helps me when I arrive to the business because I don’t have to calm down or chill out. When I was doing one of my seminars in Seoul, this would happen to me all the time and I’d have to take several moments of quiet solitude before I would meet or greet anyone.

But, today, on my way I saw a number of birds. I was so excited to when I spotted my most favorite bird, the Hoopoe. I was hoping to get a few photos of its crest spread out, but never got an angle that would allow that. I even spotted a couple of Indian Rollers, but they were quite skittish, so I didn’t get any photos of them, too bad really. What lovely birds.

Living in the desert has it’s drawbacks, I’m sure, but so far, I’ve found it to be quiet and relaxing. I admit, I have spent most of the time inside during the day, teaching my seminar, but in the evenings, I go workout in the gym at my hotel, then watch some television. I am hoping that this coming weekend I’ll be able to have a pleasant meal at one of the tauted hot-spots. I’ve heard the Lime Tree, a trendy cafe, will fit the bill. But, until then, just being able to open my window and hear the birds, I am amazed at the sheer number and I find peace.

Malaga is one of the most interesting cities in Spain. It is culturally diverse and celebrates many festivals throughout the year, as well as having a thriving arts scene. As with the other major metropolitan areas, it is rich in historic relevance and there are many landmarks and monuments that testify to its solid place in history and the present. Tourists are attracted to this enigmatic city and many come to take part in one of the annual festivals such as Holy Week, or simply to relax in its beauty and natural charm. The hotels Malaga Spain are suited to their environment and contribute to the overall grandeur of the city.

The Holy Week celebrates the last week of Lent in Christian tradition. This takes place right before Easter and is incorporated into many cultures with a Christian population. It also corresponds to the carnival celebration, which is a popular component of the season throughout much of European history. Carnival is a celebration of the excesses and generally focused on sensual abandon. There are usually street performers, and it was traditionally a time for apprentices to run through the street wrecking havoc and creating mischief. It was a time to celebrate all aspects related to the body, and was a time of turning world order upside down. Comedy played a major role in the performances and activities. This is a tradition that continues throughout many areas in the world.

The Malaga Fair is another major festival and it was chosen specifically to take place in the hottest month of the year, August. During this time many vendors take to the streets to represent various aspects of Spanish history and tradition. Live flamenco shows are common, and tapas and sweet wines are essential to the celebration. Live music is available and performed all over the town during the day. There is a transition into the evening when much of the activity moves to Recinto Ferial and includes rides, games and entertainment. Restaurants also take part in this, and will feature special menus and specific themes for the evening. Night clubs are also active with thematic specials and activities.

Many people have been traveling to Singapore for purposes of business for many years, whether in marketing, banking or trade.  Singapore is well known for the excellence in practice, and for the convention halls, lectures and seminars dedicated to expanding the knowledge of the Singapore business world, and creating new business as well.  The city is a bit congested and for anyone working there on a daily basis, say in a Singapore private bank, office building or hotel trips outside the city become a necessary retreat for peace of mind and well being.  One of the best get aways close enough for a day trip is to the rain forest.  The surroundings of the natural world will bring one back to onself, and give one the sense of the proper world.  One of the largest trees in the rainforests of Asia are the Tualang Trees.

And of the most distinguishable features of the tree is that honeycombs, like large disks, hang from the branches high above the top of the forest canopy.  One of the aspects of the trees is that the natural predator for honey, the bear, is unable to grip the sides of the tree due to the slick bark.  Which means, the honey is there for the people.  The honey harvestd from these trees is worth more than the timber would be should they be cut down, so the trees remain.  Some of the combs reach a diameter of six or more feet, containing as many as thirty thousand bees.  The bees are of the species of Asian bees, the largest honey bees in the world, averaging about a foot in length.  An average tree will contain about one thousand pounds of honey.  The ritual harvest of the honey occurs in February and March, and holds religious significance for Hindus and Muslims.  This is one of the times of great festivals, and work.  This is just one of the many aspects of the forest of interest when one decides to head to the rainforest of Singapore for a break from the city life.

The two neighborhoods one is most likely to find a Melbourne luxury hotel, is St. Kilda and Toorak.  While there are luxury accommodations located throughout the Australian city, these two districts have histories that are steeped in old money, wealth, style and decadence.  One a beach-side resort town for the genteel and upper class residents of Melbourne, St. Kilda became a bit seedy, a bit edgy during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.  But as all neighborhoods in cities transition, today there is an air of cool cosmopolitan style and a vibe of independence.  Many of those living in St. Kilda take to the streets.  This is a fantastic vacation destination for those wishing to bike, walk and skate through their days.  Off shore, there are many opportunities for sailing and wind surfing.

The restaurants in the neighborhood boast some of the freshest and finest of seafood cuisine.  And local nightlife is alive with a thriving local music scene.  There are locations for spa treatment, including indoor purified seawater saunas and pools.  And each Sunday there is an open air market with a special section for crafts that children can participate in.  Book stores and boutiques of fashionable clothing are popping up on Carlisle and Acland Streets.  And each January the Yalukit Wilam Ngargee festival takes place with celebrate the cultures indigenous to the country, with performers, and artists lining the streets.

For those wanting high fashion and higher priced items, the village of Toorak is the spot to shop.  Some of the celebrities of the country live here and the higher priced real estate has kept this village to those wealthy who can afford.  It is however, fun to walk through the shops and indulge in the beauty salons and barber shops offering high-class shaves to the gentlemen in the group. One of the most beautiful gardens in Australia is located close by, the Como House and Garden.  Inside the house there is a fine collection of antique furniture and art work.  This is an historical site at one time the residence of the most wealthy pioneering families of Australia, the Armytages. And just down Malvern Road sits the village of Hawksburn, wherein at one time was the location of some of the most serious chefs in the world.  And is, by the way, still one of the best locations to find fine restaurants and interesting cuisine.

Ibiza has long been the favorite hot spot for the young travelers, or for those interested in hip and happening night life and the parties that seem to never end.  There are quiet spots on the island as well, perfect for long walks or families traveling with children.  However for those wanting a truly all around serene and idyllic vacation, Menorca is the island one should visit.  There are many coves protected by the rocky shores as well as inlets which provide children with the safe swimming holes and various opportunities for exploration and shell hunting.  Mahon is the capital city of the island, and is the location of the harbor.  This island differs from the others in the Balearic chain, as the interior is still relatively undeveloped.  There are many places for nature hikes and mountain bike rides through virgin territory on Menorca.

Surrounding beaches include Cala Tirant, Santo Tomas and Playa de Fornells.  One of the legends of the islands is that there is a wind that blows across the island, and that this wind changes people, much as is the legend behind the Santa Ana winds in Southern California city of Los Angeles.  It is said that once a tourist experiences the winds of Menorca, they come back…to move there permanently.  There are many hotels Menorca beaches support, and each one of them has the distinct style of the history and the quaintness of this island.  Each of the islands has its own personality or style, and just because the island is calmer than the rest, the personality of Menorca is strong and distinct.

There are a variety of cultural event that happen throughout the year as well.  There is the very first Opera House in the entire country of Spain, the Teatro Principal was opened almost two hundred years ago.  And while it is most of time used for films these days, many acts due tour from time to time and play at the theater.  There is the eighteenth century gin distillery, the Xoriguer, which produces the famous gin of Menorca to this day.  Located throughout the city there are also numerous parks, churches and historical buildings and landmarks.  This is truly the gem of the Balearic Islands.

The long history of the city of Delhi and the length of time that this had been known as the capital of the country of India has had a great influence the city’s culture.  There are numerous monuments and public sculptures surrounding the city, and there are more than one thousand buildings that are recognized as heritage sites by the Archaeological Survey.  Many of the early rulers are responsible for the incredible architecture in the city, such as the largest mosque in the country, the Jama Masjid.  Three of the national heritage sites of India are located in Delhi, the Qutab Minar, the Red Fort and the Humayun Tomb.  When entering the city one will most likely enter through the Gate of India.  There are many temples throughout the city that incredible architectural structures as well as Memorial Tombs such as the one containing Gandhi, the Raj Ghat.  Many of these past listed buildings were the influence of the Turkish and Mogul rulers.  Several of the government buildings are of the Colonial British influences, such as the Sectretariat and the Parliament House of India.

Dehli is the location for the celebrations of the country as well as for holidays and national public events.  Many Delhi 5 star hotels fill during the Gandhi Jayanti Festival, a celebration of his birthday each year, and also for the Republic Day and India’s Day of Independence.  On that day, August 15th, the Prime Minister travels to Delhi and speaks to the country from the site of the Red Fort.  Many kites can be seen in the skies that day, as the kite symbolizes freedom.  The parade is huge with military marching and various colorful aspects of the culture as well.   And one of the most colorful and all encompassing examples of the diverse culture can be witnessed during each September, the Phool Walon Ki Sair.  A veritable festival of flowers, be they real, block printed or embroidered on materials and dancing.  Both these celebrations in August and September provide the traveler with a taste of the amazing culture, not just of Delhi, but of the entire country as well.

After the gold rush in Melbourne had come to an end, fewer immigrants from China were enter the city.  The business shifted as did the residents.  There were still Chinese owned shops, bakeries, and restaurants and cafes however.  But the draw to the neighborhood was coming from the general population on the whole.  Many Europeans had discovered the flavors of Chinatown and were frequenting the businesses.  It was the students of the 1930’s however, that made this area of the city, the ‘hip’ and cultural scene.  Many Chinese who had recently immigrated still found their social and cultural ties on these streets, however newer immigrants at this time tending to move to the out lying areas, and not into Chinatown.

And by the late 40’s and early 50’s, many became concerned, thinking that the neighborhood just may completely disappear.  Big department commercial stores began moving in taking away a bit from the charm of the area, forcing many smaller businesses and boutique hotel Melbourne supported out of commission.  Many historical and artistic architectural structures were demolished by the end of the 50’s.  But, as the 1960’s began, the times began to change and the cultural began to shift.  During the same era, the Chinatown neighborhood of San Francisco was booming, and this inspired the city in Australia.  Tourism was becoming a huge industry, and the City Council of Melbourne decided to invest in the redevelopment and revitalization of Little Burke Street, and in Chinatown on the whole.

Government funding became available and an innovative plan was begun in 1984.  Lighting and decorations were installed, as well as the rehabilitation of older buildings and street and sidewalk pavement replaced.  Many more have immigrated since that time, from Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan.  This has led to an even more diverse, but still Asian culture, with the arts and the cuisine of various nations supporting each other.  Many more Asian students have filled the universities of Melbourne as a result, and the business of the community is doing better than ever, making this one of the most fascinating locations to visit on a holiday tour in Melbourne.

For all of the countries with five star hotels, Spain has a variety that is as wide as its regions, and its people.  There are at least a dozen languages spoken, and the climate can vary tremendously from place to place.  Local variants in food can lead toward a tendency to want to take a culinary tour of the country, but this, like anything else here, would take longer than one lifetime.  There are some standards that are the same from place to place, and these are evident in the hotels.  There is a love of both tradition and innovation, and guests here can expect to find old-world hospitality coupled with new technology.  There are also all the other qualities that are standard in five-star hotels, where excellence in service, design, and amenities are just the beginning.

Spain has something for everyone, and is one of the most fascinating countries in Europe.  With an extremely rich and complicated history, cultures that have reputations for being warm and friendly, and a sensibility that embraces style and elegance, Spain is, and has always been, a superb destination.  There are also some very famous and colorful characters who come from Spain, and one of its most favorite daughters these days is Penelope Cruz.  With dozens and dozens of film roles, television appearances, and high media attention, there are very few places in the world she can go without attracting a lot of attention.

It’s a beautiful arc for this character, as her origins are a little more humble.  Born in Madrid to a middle class family, her father was a mechanic and her mother was a hairdresser.  She studied classical ballet before she got the notion, when she saw Almodóvar’s ¡Átame! (Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down!), to be an actress.  This was prescient, because not only has she become one of the most visible actresses working today, she has become one of Almodóvar’s favorites.  She had a leading role in Todo sobre mi madre (All About My Mother), and she won a very well-deserved nomination for Volver (To Return).  She has had many other roles, in films in Spanish and English, and is developing a reputation for her complex portrayals of complex characters, which might be shorthand for saying that she’s arrived.  Penelope Cruz just might be the Queen of Spain.

The New York City Broadway theatre scene is the most prominent in the United States. While Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle and other major US cities also have an incredible and diverse theatre scene, Broadway is definitely the Great White Way and the icon of American theatre. Avenue Q is currently playing at the Golden Theatre between 8th and Broadway. It is a Tony Award winning musical comedy and is scheduled to play through mid September of this year, which will mark an incredible 6 year run. The Best New York City hotel will offer information on this and other shows at the front desk.

Avenue Q began previews in July of 2003, and has been extremely popular with all audiences since its first performance. Before its Broadway run it ran on Off Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre. The musical follows the adventures of a recent college graduate who moves to New York to follow his dreams. It was conceived by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, who wrote the music and lyrics. The book was by Jeff Whitty, and the story is inspired by the Sesame Street Characters. The musical is full of puppets, and many of them are based on those found in the classic children’s educational program.

While this might seem like a children’s show, based on the inspiration and character base, it should be known that there is adult language, themes and profanity. This is evident in one of the most popular songs from the show, The Internet is for Porn. The musical has had a successful turning production in Australia and was also produced in London’s West End. If planning on attending the production, audiences should just remember that while it is a comedy, and full of puppets, it is not recommended for young children, and adult supervision is essential for older youth and adolescents.

When I came to New York on a business trip, I had no idea that I would put in an application to help New York become greener. It was after I had finished up with my business deals and getting ready to check out of my New York USA Hotel, I heard a public announcement over the television about a new plan Mayor Bloomberg was implementing.

It has to do with enhancing New York’s urban environment. By 2017 he plans to plant an estimated 220,000 street trees with funding over $200 million. New York’s Parks and Recreations will be the steward of the approximately 29,000 acres of land from Central Park to the Yankee Stadium to the community Gardens and Greenstreets.

I did a little research on the Internet to find out more and to see what qualifications are necessary. Apparently, the Ciity of New York will be seeking individuals with experience and a earnest interest in Horticulture. They will have to perform advanced forestry functions. Do field surveys and inspections to assess the conditions of trees and recommend solutions to all the damage being done by insects and disease. Also recommend which species to plant. So far so good, I can meet all those expectations. My current job is in Horticulture.

I found a place on-line where I could fill out an application and submit it. I think that this initiative to make New York greener sounds like my ticket to get out from under a corporate job and get back to nature. Plus, help make New York and even better and more beautiful place to visit and live. I left my hotel room and took a leisurely walk up the street I was on. Yes, I could see how I could be of great benefit to this magnificent city and be of benefit to aiding in the re-greening of our Earth.
