With foreclosures headlining the news, most people feel the urge to stuff the mattress with cash and save, save, save. There’s nothing wrong with saving (we’ll leave the discussion about stuffing mattresses with money at a later date), but it’s important to realize that with prices at all-time lows, now is also the best time to invest – if you have the money.

If you install a pool in your backyard or put marble in the kitchens, then you’re sure to increase the value of your home. (My recent upgrade was wooden cornices that I had installed from Next Day Blinds. They are beautifully hand crafted.) You’re adding custom features that make the inside more valuable to potential purchasers. But if you’re not looking to sell your home at the moment, then those would definitely fall under the long-term investment category.

Investing in your home can have both short term, and a long term benefits. By taking a look at where you spend the most energy in your home, remodeling can not only improve the aesthetics of your living space, but also help save some money in the short term. Check your appliances – are any of them over 10 years old and do they not carry an Energy Star symbol for energy efficiency? Every time you run the dishwasher or the dryer, these appliances may be sucking up unnecessary electricity or water. A really simple way to save on electricity is to just use more natural light. If you find curtains too cumbersome, blinds and shades make adjusting the light in the room much easier. If you need quick service, Next Day Blinds can get your new window coverings to you by the next day.

Ibiza is one of the Balearic islands of the south east coast of Spain.  It is a popular tourist destination.  The main town – Ibiza Town is an old medieval town which a magnificent cathedral.  The old town has cobbled streets full of romance and host to an array of fine Ibiza restaurants, shops and bars.  It’s the place to people watch.

Ibiza has some of the worlds premier nightclubs making it popular with the young and the beautiful.  Many of the worlds greatest DJs stop over on the island to perform.

Away from the cosmopolitan center there are many beaches – in fact over 80 of them!  They are perfect for sun bathing, snorkeling, swimming and surfing. On the north of the island is the famous Aguas Blancas home of the more bohemian elements of the population.

The countryside around Ibiza can be gentile or rugged and there are many places to explore and discover.  There are also many smaller towns which are off the beaten track and traditional in appearance.  Accommodation ranges from five star Ibiza hotels to boutique hotels in Ibiza as well as smaller villas and hostels.   One of the great things about Ibiza is that you can have a change of scene in a very short time by traveling from one beach to the next or one town to another.

To the south of Ibiza lies the smaller island of Formentera.  This island can only be accessed by boat or ferry.  It has a rugged coastline with cliffs and small coves.  There are also many long sandy beaches that are popular with tourists.  The island is certainly much quieter than Ibiza but does host many popular Formentera hotels and restaurants.  If it’s a more rural vacation filled with country lanes, fishing boats and sleepy villages then Formentera is the place for you.

During a down economy it’s common for businesses to trim budgets and look for ways to make themselves more efficient.  The less resources available means the organization needs to learn how to better utilize what they have in order to maintain a similar level of productivity.

It’s no secret that one of the best ways to make employees more productive is via training.  I’d imagine there’s a positive correlation between the amount of training an employee has received and their performance at work.  This is more evident is certain roles than in others.  In the field of sales it’s very easy to find a run-of-the-mill sales guy.  But it takes a certain level of sales training and experience to be able to close the deals that are going to move the bottom line.

For more senior executives there are many factors that impact how successful they may be at their jobs.  There are certain technical skills and people skills that senior execs need to possess in order to really excel at their positions.  A course on management training could really help these individuals succeed and better prepare them to lead their departments.  General leadership training could also assist for this purpose.

It’s important to keep in mind that as organizations become more efficient they will look to maximize productivity from each employee.  By providing management seminars and other leadership skill building activities, businesses have much to gain.
